BREAST CANCER FUNDRAISER
Each year, the Johnston Grimes Firefighters Foundation proudly sells special edition T-shirts to raise funds in support of a local resident who is either a breast cancer survivor or currently battling breast cancer within our communities. This heartfelt initiative brings firefighters, families, businesses, and neighbors together for a meaningful cause, with proceeds going directly to help ease medical expenses and everyday financial burdens. By wearing the shirts, community members not only show their support but also stand in solidarity with those facing the fight of their lives, reinforcing the foundation’s commitment to serving and uplifting Johnston and Grimes both on and off duty.
TOYS FOR TOTS DRIVE
The Johnston Grimes Firefighters Foundation proudly hosts an annual Toys for Tots Drive each holiday season, bringing the community together to support local children and families in need. Partnering with generous residents, local businesses, and area first responders, the foundation collects new, unwrapped toys to help ensure every child experiences the joy of the holidays. Donation boxes are placed throughout Johnston and Grimes. Through this cherished tradition, the foundation continues its mission of service beyond emergency response-strengthening community spirit and making a meaningful difference in young lives each year.
The Johnston Grimes Firefighters Foundation is committed to strengthening community safety by teaching Stop the Bleed training and providing Stop the Bleed kits to local schools. Through hands-on instruction, firefighters educate students, teachers, and staff on how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and take immediate action using proven lifesaving techniques. In addition to training, the foundation donates fully equipped kits to ensure schools have the proper tools readily available in an emergency. This proactive initiative empowers the community with knowledge, preparedness, and confidence—helping save lives when every second counts.
Each year, the Johnston Grimes Firefighters Foundation proudly volunteers its time to ring bells for the The Salvation Army during the holiday season. Foundation members stand outside local stores, greeting shoppers with smiles and festive spirit while collecting donations that support individuals and families in need.
The Johnston-Grimes Firefighters Foundation provides donations each year to both the Grimes Storehouse and the Johnston Partnership to support local families and community needs.
Food Pantry Donations
The Johnston Grimes Firefighters partnered with Make-A-Wish to build a wheelchair-accessible swing set for a member of the community, helping create an inclusive space where the child and their family can safely enjoy time together.
